Sand dollar Searching

Sand dollar Searching, Division III Emerging
Sand dollar Searching
This piece captures a deeply personal moment—a quiet beach scene at dawn where I discovered the sand dollar now attached to the frame. At the time, I was going through a discouraging season in my life and had spent two days walking miles of shoreline searching for shells, hoping for something special. On the third morning, determined to be the first one on the beach, I set out before sunrise. I walked for miles again, finding nothing—until the first light of day began to break. As the darkness lifted, I looked down and saw it: a perfect sand dollar, tucked away as if it had been waiting for me all along. I used pieces of driftwood gathered from the same shoreline to construct the frame, preserving the moment and the meaning it holds. This artwork is not just a scene—it’s a story of hope, patience, and finding beauty just when you need it most.
