Path Into Pompeii
Div. II, First place, Experimental
My intention was to create the feeling of entering the ruins of Pompeii. My concertina book represents the main road into the large city. The highly textured surface represents the crumbling, rocky ruins and the colors of nature remind me of the vegetation that is still thriving amongst them. There was a foggy mist there that day with the volcano looming over the remains. Lots of ancient grafitti was also readily found.

Materials
Khadi paper concertina book, gesso, frisket, texture tools, gel plate, and open acrylic paint were used.
